EAS 2017 Theme
By 2025 industry analysts predict the global satellite-based earth observation market will generate over $43 billion dollars of new revenue, primarily from Big Data analytics and value-added solution applications. A wide array of orbital, aerial, UAS and terrestrial-based sensors will provide staggering volumes of multimodality data collected at high re-visit rates with widely varying quality levels in terms of spatial resolution, viewing angles and metadata quality standards. In order to capitalize on this glut of commercial and open-source data successful companies will need to transition to new business and service models. Agility, technology, and innovation will separate the winners from the losers competing in this fast-growing and dynamic market of commercial geospatial Big Data analytics.
The 2017 EAS will focus on the theme of “Analytical Solutions in a Data-Rich World.” In addition to selected guest speakers from industry, government, and academia we are inviting researchers and practitioners from across the geospatial community to submit to speak at EAS. Topic areas of interest include:
- Machine Learning at Scale
- The Future of Earth Observation
- The LiDAR Revolution
- Adding the Temporal Dimension to Geospatial Analytics
- Geospatial Modeling – Creating the “Digital Twin*”
- Industry Solutions of Geospatial Analytics (…Precision Ag, Utilities, Maritime, Defense and Security)
- Buying and Selling Geospatial Analytics
*A digital twin is a virtual model of a process, product or service. This pairing of the virtual and physical worlds allows analysis of data and monitoring of systems to head off problems before they even occur, prevent downtime, develop new opportunities and even plan for the future by using simulations.
The 2017 EAS agenda is close to being finalized. In general, each speaker will have around 20 minutes to present, which should include time for 1-2 questions from the audience.
While your session can dive into specific details, many EAS attendees will not have your ENVI/analytics background or expertise. Make sure to start your session at a very high level so that anyone can understand and when going into detail, explain concepts that others may not know. Make sure the business value is clear to the audience. We will record each session to share with attendees and promote the conference.
If your submission is accepted, we will rely on your participation and will turn away qualified speakers in favor of including your session. We begin publicizing your session immediately upon confirmation in order to attract attendees to the event. If medical conditions preclude your attendance at the EAS, you agree to make best efforts to notify us as early as possible; in such a case, while assistance finding a replacement speaker is requested and appreciated, we must screen any prospective replacement speaker, and retain the right to find a replacement speaker.
