ENVI Webinar on New Support for Landsat 8 and Other Emerging Sensors

Patrick Collins

Following the success of our special two-hour presentation at the Esri® User Conference, Exelis VIS is excited to host a webinar that discusses new support in ENVI for emerging sensors. Recent development efforts have been focused on leveraging data from new collection systems and making it easier than ever to work with these new data types in ENVI. Sensors such as Landsat 8, NPP VIIRS, Worldview-2, and the increased availability of LiDAR are providing unique data types that help people solve problems in ways that previously weren't possible.

New bands and data formatting from Landsat 8 offer opportunities for extracting information on a global scale, creating new world-wide layers of information that have up until now not been available. NPP VIIRS has upped the collection game, capturing an entire picture of the Earth every 24 hours. This capacity will undoubtedly provide an enormous amount of data to fuel climate and other global studies into the future. DigitalGlobe™ Inc.’s WorldView-2 satellite is the first high resolution, 8-band multispectral commercial satellite, and allows users to analyze imagery of any place on the Earth with unprecedented accuracy. LiDAR, which was technically developed in the 60s, is becoming an increasing source of information for GIS. Industries such as mining, oil and gas, urban planning, disaster response, and more have been leveraging the precision of LiDAR to plan and execute projects.

Without the proper tools, aspects of these data types can make them hard to work with and to get the exact information you need out of them. Our goal here at Exelis has been to work closely with the data providers and the users of those data types to create intuitive ways to ingest and work with these new sensors.

Join us on August 15, when one of our very own Senior Application Scientists will run through the newest developments in ENVI that will support these new technologies into the future. The webinar will run three times: August 15, from 11-12pm local Singapore Time; August 15, from 3-4pm Paris Time; and August 15, from 2-3pm Eastern Time. Feel free to sign up at the links below. We look forward to seeing you there!
