Measure the Difference Between Two Points

Measure the Difference Between Two Points

The Measurement Tool measures the difference between two selected points. It displays the result in the Operations Log and as an annotation in the Main window. When open, the measurement also appears in the ENVI LiDAR 3D Viewer.

To add text and coordinate annotations to the view, see Annotate the View.

To use the Measurement Tool:

  1. Click the Measurement Tool button on the toolbar. The cursor shape changes to a cross hair.
  2. Click the first point.
  3. Click the second point.

A measurement annotation is added to the Main window, showing the following:

    • Horizontal range between points 1 and 2 (meters and feet)
    • Z difference
    • Slant range between points 1 and 2 (meters and feet)

To delete a measurement annotation from the Main window, right-click the annotation and select Delete Annotation.

In the Operations Log, the following appears:

    • Coordinates for points 1 and 2
    • Delta x, y, and z difference
    • Horizontal range between points 1 and 2 (meters and feet)
    • Slant range between points 1 and 2 (meters and feet)
    • Vertical angle and horizontal angle (degrees and radians)
