The ENVI Analytics Symposium featured analytical
thought leaders and practitioners from around the world

The 2016 ENVI Analytics Symposium (EAS) continued its exploration of remote sensing and Big Data analytics around
the theme of Geospatial Signatures to Analytical Insights.

Although we all come from different industries and backgrounds, we all know that geospatial data and analytics can help solve the most difficult problems that the world faces today. EAS is the premier forum to discuss cutting edge approaches to problem solving.
You can’t solve problems without data. How do you select the right data to get the right answer? Resolution, frequency, band combinations, and many other parameters need to be considered when selecting your data.
Geospatial analytics convert raw data to actionable information, integrate content from multiple sources to uncover signatures, and reveal underlying trends and behaviors. Ultimately, analytics can provide insight into critical issues facing the planet.
Everyone is after new insights. Insights are what enable break through discoveries that lead to better business decisions, better national security, better natural resource protection, and a better world. Attend EAS 2016 and be a part of the geospatial analytics conversation.

The concept of a spectral signature in remote sensing involves measuring reflectance/emittance characteristics of an object with respect to wavelength. Extending the concept of a spectral signature to a geospatial signature opens the aperture of our imagination to include textural, spatial, contextual, and temporal characteristics that can lead to the discovery of new patterns in data. Extraction of signatures can in turn lead to new analytical insights on changes in the environment which impact decisions from national security to critical infrastructure to urban planning.

Thought leaders and practitioners from industry, academia, government, and non-profit organizations came together in Boulder for an intensive exploration of the latest advancements of analytics in remote sensing.

Attendee Experience

Attendees were in the room with multi-disciplinary thought leaders from around the globe as they discuss the future of the industry. They gleaned knowledge and ideas from other successful real-world analytical applications, all while sitting in the beautiful surroundings of historic Downtown Boulder, Colorado.

Platinum Sponsors

Sharing data on Amazon Web Services (AWS) makes it accessible to a large and growing community of users who use the AWS cloud for research, new product development, and education. When data is shared in the cloud, anyone can analyze it without having to download it or store it themselves, which lowers the cost of new product development, reduces the time to scientific discovery, and accelerates innovation. Learn more about open data on AWS at

Esri, the leader in geospatial technology, offers imagery tools and content to see the world, find the patterns and share with others. Esri’s ArcGIS platform includes means to manage and serve large collections of imagery for use in ArcGIS and other software such as ENVI. ArcGIS Online provides access to large collections of imagery such as Landsat GLS collection, as well as global elevation datasets.

Planet designs, builds and operates the world's most capable constellation of Earth-imaging satellites. Planet's mission is to image the entire Earth, every day, and make global change visible, accessible, and actionable.
