Creating a Transparency over a gray scale image 84 0
Started by Afsheen Khan
Hello
I would like to use as many envi functions as possible to accomplish the following, but if needed, I can also do some stuff in IDL.
What I would like to do is create something like a transparency to overlay on a gray scale image. The transparency will be made up of red pixels that correspond to the original gray scale image. I can do this using the 8 color scheme and changing the color table, but I want to find a way to do this using the True color scheme.
Thanks for your time,
...

ROI separability error 235 0
Started by Nancy Golubiewski
I have a list of ROIs (50) and want to compare subsets for their spectral separability. Whether I compare 2 ROIs or 20, I get an error, and the results only show '0' or NaN. This is the error message:
Singular value encountered in calculation for ROI .
I haven't been able to run 'Compare ROI separability' successfully.
Does anyone have advice
Thanks in advance...

warping avhrr data 79 0
Started by Roberto Bonifaz
I am trying to use batch processing to warp avhrr imagery, however I have strange result (shifted in x) If I do the warp interactively everything is ok but if I use the batch processing something is wrong! I used the samples projections definitions and adding a new one and always is the same differences between batch and interactive.

Landsat TM calibration 81 2

when I use the calibration function for Landsat TM, it said the gain and offset could't be found. But the gain and offset are in the header file. So what's wrong with it BTW, I am using the .hdr file. Thanks!

mosaic template: inserting new bands/images 89 0
Started by Orest Kawka
Is there a way to insert new bands/images into an existing mosaic template's individual image positions (i.e. use it as a REAL template) in an interactive manner. I would like to do it without editing the actual text file/script.
An older manual (Envi 3.4) alluded to being able to do this, but its directions aren't applicable AND the current version 3.6 has nothing about it.
Thanks,
Orest

Subset RIOs by 'Resize(spatial/spectral)' vs. 'Subset Data via ROI 89 0
Started by Orest Kawka
I have just started using ENVI and will be analyzing radar data with its PCA algorithm.
What is the difference between subsetting an image using ROIs using:
a) Resize(spatial/spectral) command on the Basic Tools menu and
b) Subset Data via ROIs command on the same menu.
The two methods seem to be identical except the latter command (b) also allows you to mask the pixels outside the ROI but in the bounding box. When not using the mask in (b) the results seem to be identical to the for...

mosaicking georeferenced ASTER data 82 1
Started by Jason Permenter
I would like to mosaic several georeferenced ASTER images (level 1A/B as well as DEMs), but I keep receiving an error that states that ENVI is 'unable to mosaic georeferenced images containing a rotation factor other than zero'. What are my options to correct this problem, while still maintaining the georeferencing information in the data

AST07 and AST05 94 0
Started by Daryl Nunn
Just wondering if when ENVI 3.6 service pack 1 opens a AST05 or AST07 file is the georeferenced. If not is there a quick and easy way to use the georeferencing information that is imported during this method to georeference these files in ENVI.
Thanks

Loading Registration Warp Coefficients into ENVI 79 0
Started by Julie Spicer
Is there a way to load polynomial warp coefficients (kx,ky)into ENVI when registering images ENVI allows a user to save out the polynomial coefficients via a text file, but, does not have the ability to load in the coefficients. In this instance, loading GCPs and developing the coefficients in ENVI is not an option.

Georeferenced Mosaicking in 3.6 failing 85 0
Started by Eric Pilger
If I perform a georeferenced mosaic of integer data in ENVI 3.6 I get strange results. Some values are arbitrarily shifted by 10's of thousands. Some are wrapped and shifted in position. Georeferenced mosaicking of the exact same data in 3.5 works perfectly. Pixel based mosaicking of the same data in 3.6 does work. Anybody experiencing similar results

Pseudo endmember fraction images from high spatial res. image 79 0
Started by Kevin Cody
Hello,
Does anyone have an IDL program which will take a classified high spatial resolution image and aggregate it into a lower spatial resolution multi-band fraction image Essentially, I want the output image to have n bands (n being the number of classes in the high-res image) and the pixel values are the percent cover.
Thanks in advance,
Casey Cody

NOAA-10, 11 calibrations 77 0
Started by Andrew Tupper
Hi,
I'd really like to use the AVHRR calibration function on NOAA 10 and 11 data. However, the function only gives a choice of NOAA 12,14,15 or 16. Is there an expanded version of this function anywhere, or any other possible approach I'm using ENVI 3.5 & IDL.
Thanks, Andrew Tupper

geotifs and using them in ArcMap 72 0
Started by Angela Lo
Hello! I have an Aster geotif and I have no problems opening it up in ArcMap. The problem I have is that the geotif is too large. I'd rather have a smaller image so things will load faster in ArcMap. Does anyone know how to crop a geotif how do I prevent losing the georeferenced data from the geotif when I crop it
thank you in advance!

Writing to a specific line of a BIP or BIL file? 83 2
Started by Jonathan Greenberg
Hi all:
I was hoping someone might know, using an IDL and/or ENVI function, how do I write data to a specific LINE of a BIP or BIL file Its easy to read it (envi_get_slice), but not easy to write that slice (how come no 'envi_write_slice'). The brute force is to load the entire image into memory, assign that specific line the new values, and then rewrite the entire image back to disk. This is EXTREMELY slow. Even using ENVI's spectral tiling routines (which at least minimize the memory ...
